Welcome Back to the Blog and Call for Papers!

Welcome back! My name is Avery Calvert and I am the president of HGSA for the 2024-2025 school year. This year we have a lot of exciting content that you will not want to miss! Last year, we launched the first edition of The Willingham. This digital publication encourages scholarship among graduate students and promotes accessibility to a historical publication. As we grow as an organization, we want to continue this mission of accessible history.

I am excited to announce that the Call for Papers for the next edition of The Willingham opens today! The History Graduate Student Association at the University of North Alabama is calling for articles and papers for the 2025 edition of The Willingham, focusing on the theme of “Turning Points in History: People, Ideas, and Events.” Articles should be between three and five pages while papers should be between twelve and twenty pages. This call is open to all graduate students. Please send all submissions to HGSA@una.edu and complete the form on our website’s homepage. Submissions should be sent by November 22, 2024. The latest edition of The Willingham will be published in May 2025.
